A3 Athletics has selected Big Brothers Big Sisters to benefit from their golf tournament featuring Eric Berry and helping to support Big Brothers Big Sisters One-to-One Mentoring programs.
The tournament is shaping up to be an impressive event – a3 has secured several sports celebs including Eric Berry. Other names that they have confirmed to participate include:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee (BBBSETN) has been transforming children’s lives in East Tennessee since 1970. The vision of BBBSETN is that all children achieve success in life. The mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. BBBSETN partners with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community and hold themselves accountable for each child in the program achieving:
- Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
- Avoidance of risky behaviors
- Educational success
BBBSETN projects that they will serve 1,112 children in a one-to-one mentoring match during FY2011-2012. It costs about $1,000 annually per child and the a3 Golf Tournament will help provide those services to more children in East Tennessee. Each match includes the following activities:
- Parent, Child and Volunteer Interviews
- Criminal Background Check and Reference Checks for the Volunteer
- An Assessment of the Child and Recommended Activities for the Volunteer and Child
- Volunteer Training
- Monthly Staff Support for the Match and Parent
