In response to being nominated for the United Way of Kingsport Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, Big Sister Rhonda Smith responded:
I would like to nominate my Litte Sister Dusty for “being an awesome kid”.
Dusty is the most amazing kid I know. She is the most kind hearted, loving and caring kid you could ever meet. She is full of life and while at times she doesn’t know what she wants to do a simple suggestion turns in to a full day journey with her. Dusty always puts others first and is very selfless! She loves the simple things in life such as a bike ride, going to the lake, playing with my dogs and cats and just hanging out at my parent’s house. She loves to learn new things and has a great willingness to learn. She loves to cook and has a lot of patience. She loves watching my dad work in the yard and likes to learn whatever he may be doing at the time. Additionally, she has found a love for basketball, playing for her school and watching the Lady Vols play. She never asks for anything which is such an anomaly within most kids. Dusty is content spending time with her friends and doesn’t get caught up with the material things in life. While my new job is very time consuming, I haven’t been able to spend as much time with her as I have in the past she will always hold a special place in my heart and I will continue to say that she is “the most amazing and awesome kid I know”.
